Buffalo is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Buffalo peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. We ordered the 5-flavor flight, which was a really fun way to try a bunch of different flavors (they have a 9-flavor flight too!). The ice cream was delicious, and Iβd definitely get a flight again. We also tried the peaches and cream boba float, which was an interesting combination. My only issue was figuring out how to actually eat/drink it. The ice cream wouldnβt go through the straw, but you also canβt exactly scoop up the milk tea with a spoon, so I ended up alternating between both. Fun to try once, but personally, next time Iβd stick with their ice cream!

We stopped by this place from out of town after visiting the zoo. It was a great place to beat the heat. They had a ton of different flavors and the staff was very helpful for first timers, allowing us to sample a few with the kids to figure out what we wanted. Their prices were reasonable and the portions are massive. I ordered a 2 scoop cone and honestly felt it was too much lol. Their seating area is filled with tones of tables and shade and they have a small parking lot instead of needing to find on street parking. I Would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a tasty summer treat.

If I could give this place 100 more stars I would. The ice cream is incredible. We have never had artisan ice cream before. Nothing compares. The flavors were exquisite. We went back again at 9pm. The line was so long....so sad couldn't stay. Can't wait to come back and have it again.

Lake effect hands down has the BEST hard ice cream flavors in town. So many unique flavors that are all incredible! Here's a break down of some of mine and my husband's favorites: Paula's Glazed Donut: AMAZING my go to every time. Has huge pieces of actual donut in it. Tastes exactly like eating one of their donuts with a big scoop of delicious ice cream on top. Big Waynes Cake Batter: my #2 choice. It's so creamy and smooth. Not gritty like you'd expect a batter flavor to be. It tastes just like real vanilla cake batter. Not artificial like traditional brands make. Extra cookies extra cream: a classic, good ole Oreo ice cream, except this ones packed to the brim with cookies and flavor. Black Sesame: one of my husband's go to. He loves it for us unique and nutty profile. Revolution Coffee: another great classic. Signature coffee flavor, but not too bitter. Honestly, every flavor is divine and worth trying for yourself! They even offer flights up to 9 scoops of reasonable size so you can try it all and not be too full.
